David's third single 'Best Of Order' was released in August 2003. His video was shot on June 23rd in East London and us lucky chaps at davidsneddon.biz popped along to ask the man himself a few questions and spy on what was happening.
David tells us that the basic concept behind the video is a really cool feel. For the first time the band are in the video with David. As Best Of Order has a rockier beat, David and the guys want to give the impression of a 'stylised rehearsal'
Taking place in the basement of an east london office building - the walls are bare stripped brick, the ceilings incredibly high, give the room a very roomy airy feel. The natural shadows of being underground give the lighting an eery feel, enhanced by the equipment to produce a stunning vintage glow.
David and the band are shot in front of a giant brick wall with a rough graphite sketched canvas depicting the Glasgow skyline in white and black. To the untrained eye, the impression given is that of a seedy underground club - just as David sings about on the track.
David is comfortable wearing baggy jeans, a shiny new leather belt, a tatty pair of trainers - baseball styley, and a whitey/bluey cloudy t-shirt over a long sleeved purpley top. This is certainly a move forwards from David sitting behind the piano wearing a suit. David tells us that sitting behind the piano was necessary for his first two videos to convey his stance as a serious musician, however now it's time to show that there is a lot more to him than that.
During a break from shooting David tells us the highlights of his summer so far. He says that without a doubt the University Tour has been a huge highlight. What started out as an experiment to see how the band would gel together has now turned into a fabulous PR move. David comments that it's frustrating how ignorant people can be about him and he's enjoyed going to these gigs, rocking the place and converting people along the way gaining more fans. Another highlight for David has been meeting Avid Merrion - David comments that Avid Merrion and Bo Selector is without a doubt the funniest thing on TV at the moment.
