In Januray of 2004 David provided fans with a new-year treat when he appeared on Radio Ulster with fellow Fame Academy 1 alumni Malachi who was presenting his own show.
February saw David and co-writer/conspirator John Kielty tackle the states in both songwriting and a visit to the Grammies which they threatened to attend in kilts! David also drew a picture of a cow on a skateboard for National Doodle Day, which was put to auction and raised over £300 in bids for epilepsy and neurofibromatosis. The doodle along with many others has been exhibited in London recently. Rumours also abounded about Ronan and perhaps him releasing Stop Living The Lie exclusively to the US market, believing it to be an attempt to crack the states.
In March 2004, we heard that David attended an Elton John concert in Las Vegas. David also performed at the wedding for friend and Radio Clyde DJ Gavin Pearson.
More importantly in March the Scottish Sunday Mail reported about a campaign for Struan House and that David pledged to go and perform at the school who raises the most money for the campaign which hopes to raise enough money to build a new school for autistic children.
In May 2004 David performed at a charity concert in aid of '
Reaching Out For Africa '. The event, hosted by Patty Boulaye also featured Boney M, Jim Diamond, Leo Sayer and Dean Park. David Sneddon fans however were delighted to see David and songwriting partner John Kielty take to the stage again as they performed 'Don't Let Go', 'Stop Living The Lie' and two brand new songs previously unheard by fans; 'Only A Boy' and 'Happy In Her Atmosphere'. During the show David announced that he and John will be forming a band and will be returning to gigging.
The Daily Record the following day reiterated this news in an interview with David and mentioned that fans can look forward to the bands first gig around June 2004 time!

In June 2004, the band, named 'The Sham' debuted at Madame JoJo's in Soho. The band includes six members; David (voice), John (Acoustic Guitar), Simon (Lead Guitar), Jamie (Bass), Ed (Drums) and Jake (Keys).
They performed five songs in total including 'Hiding From Me', 'Fallen Angel', 'Little Blue', 'Only A Boy' and 'Star'. Video clips can be found in our Forum

In late June, David's local paper, the Paisley Daily Express featured a short article on David and The Sham and commented that they would be touring small venues in the autumn time in the Greater London area.
At the end of July David, Jake and Jamie from The Sham appeared on BBC Radio London as guests on Sadie Nine's regular show alongside Tony Moore (ex-Kashmir Klub / The Bedford). Over the course of the two hours in which they appeared the chaps chatted about everything to do with the music industry, The Sham, gigs and more. If that's not enough, they also gave listeners two incredibly stunning acoustic performances of 'Star' and 'Hiding From Me'.
The Sham performed their first 'proper' live gig at The Bedford in Balham on Tuesday August 3rd to a packed out crowd. The band, minus John Kielty performed seven songs in total including 'Hiding From Me', 'Fallen Angel', 'Upbeat Beat', 'Little Blue', 'Only A Boy', 'Star' and 'Goodbye Baby'. Listeners familiar with the Martians EP may have recognised 'Upbeat Beat' written by John Kielty but transformed to a much rockier/electric sounding version.
August also saw The Sham perfomring at The Metro Club in Oxford Street on Tuesday 17th August and then on Monday August 23rd they performed at the Roadhouse in Covent Garden. At the end of August, David headed off for a well deserved holiday.
September saw the launch of the bands official website. The Sham also performed at the Merchant City Festival up in Glasgow and The Water Rats Theatre in Kings Cross.
The band's debut single 'Goodbye Baby' received its first airplay on Radio Birch in Rochdale.
In October the band released their debut single 'Goodbye Baby' as a download single only available through their official website. In the first 12 hours of sales the band reached #2 in the Seven Digital Media Download charts and later in the week they managed to knock U2 off the Top Spot.
Hand in hand with the single release went mutliple press articles and radio interviews. The band also celebrated the launch of the single with a party at Cargo in London. Supporting the band at the launch party were Nate James followed by Rob Reynolds. The band then performed 8 songs themselves to a crowd of invited guests and competition winners. The evening, compered by The Bedford's Tony Moore was a resounding success.
October also saw a last minute gig at Bar Mambo in Guildford. David, Si, Ed, Jake & Jay performed their very first acoustic set to a packed out crowd.
Just four days later the band were back in the familiar setting of a band gig at the two day festival Cityfest, also in Guildford. With Jon Dowling replacing John Kielty the band rocked the venue with songs such as Upbeat Beat, Fallen Angel, Hiding From Me, single Goodbye Baby, Only A Boy, Star, new song No More Words and an old fan favourite - a reworked version of 'Lazy'.
November started with David appearing on Tam Cowan's 'Offside' on BBC1 Scotland. After a brief chat David was joined by John Kielty to give an acoustic performance of their spoof Scotland World Cup song 'Dae Something'.
Two days later the guys were joined by the entire band to return the favour and support Rob Reynolds at Bush Hall in Shepherds Bush.
To round off the week The Sham then performed a last minute gig at the University of London Union on Friday 5th November.
Later on in November the band performed at an event at the Royal Lancaster hotel in London in aid of The Children's Trust.
December saw David and John pick up the award for 'Guest Of The Year' at the 'Off The Ball' radio awards on BBC Radio Scotland.
As a patron of the Scottish Society for Autism David auctioned off his first ever piano, the one on which he wrote 'Stop Living The Lie' with the proceeds going towards the Struan Appeal.
The Sham also featured highly in Aberdeen's Hogmanay celebrations with performances at Cafe Society in aid of Cash4Kids followed by a headline slot at the Langstane Stage in the evening!
