David Sneddon is originally from Paisley near Glasgow.

From the age of 11 David started playing the piano and worked hard at it. While attending school David participated in various drama and music productions at Glenifer High School such as Starlight Express, and his interests went beyond this in his extra-curricular pursuits with PACE youth theatre. With PACE David had the opportunity to perform at the Millenium Dome and starred in the leading role in such shows as Bugsy Malone. In 1999 he was invited to sing at an anti-drug concert at the S.E.C.C. in Glasgow, organised by the police. There, he performed in front of 12,000 screaming teenagers. After the concert, he spent 2 hours signing autographs.

Prior to Fame Academy, David performed with a group called the Martians . Chiefly formed of Kielty brothers, The Martians performed everywhere from pubs to clubs and busked at the Edinburgh Festival. The band, was formed out of John [lead vocals and guitar], David [vocals and kazoo], Gerry [vocals], Tommy [percussion], Martin [drums], Gibby [bass], Harry [guitar] and Gareth [voice]. The Martians have produced stunning tunes such as 'Stopped Me In My Tracks', 'Convince Me' and 'Long Time Coming' which made it's way onto David's debut album 'Seven Years Ten Weeks'. Since leaving Fame Academy, David has brought John Kielty with him to London and John is now songwriting with him and performing on tour with David. A demo CD of David performing with the Martians is available for purchase from http://www.the-martians.com

David has not only had a musical background. After leaving school he attended Glasgow University majoring in Media Studies but left to concentrate on his music. David is no stranger to the screen. He appeared as an extra in Scottish independent film 'Small Faces'in 1995, and presented a small childrens TV show in Aberdeen and Glasgow called 'Inside Out'. David wrote the show himself and created it based around jokes to make his mates laugh. David maintains he does not want to pursue a career in television, however he presented The Saturday Show with Fearne Cotton for 2 weeks in July 2003 and is set to present 'Children In Need' in Glasgow come November 2003.

In 2002, David auditioned for Fame Academy. Having not made the final line-up he was invited along with Paul and Sinead to participate in a live sing-off for the final place in the Fame Academy. David lost out that night to Sinead Quinn [who went on to be a finalist with David], however less than two weeks into the show David found himself being invited to replace Naomi Roper who had to be pulled from the show due to soft nodules on her vocal chords. While sceptical at first due to the poor ratings and bad reviews the show was getting in the press, David seized the opportunity and entered the Academy.

After performing in one live showdown he was put on probation for the reason that he was too 'boyband'. David survived the public vote with 50% of the overall votes and in response to his critics insisted he show what he can do and was then two weeks later rewarded with the much sought after 'A-Grade'. David later faced the public vote a further 4 times, being saved by the public each time and eventually going on to win the final with a massive 3.5 million votes.

In return for putting his music and personality at the mercy of the British public, David was rewarded with a record contract, rent paid on a flat in London, a role in a hollywood movie, a zippy Audi TT, a stylist, weekly deliveries of champagne and flowers, a personal trainer and tickets to all of the great sporting and celeb events this year such as the FA Cup final etc. David however doesn't mind so much about the prizes - what matters to him is the recording contract, and he's thus far fulfilled his dream of releasing his own album.
